The Challenge


A California Volvo retailer needed a Memorial Day email campaign. Most offers available were standard: conquest bonuses, loyalty savings, and lease incentives—not enough to stand out in a crowded inbox.


RJS Media Consulting was asked to “make it work.” Instead of leaning on discounts or gimmicks, we leaned into meaning—connecting with how people remember Volvo.

The Execution


We created a story-driven campaign rooted in nostalgia, safety, and identity. The centerpiece was an emotionally evocative image of a classic Volvo wagon by the sea, paired with the headline:

“The Safest Way Home Is Still a Volvo.”

The email avoided high-pressure sales and instead focused on family, time, and trust—three things Volvo has long represented.


The Response

“This is beautiful.”
“This is your best work yet.”
“Forget the CPO — this is art.”

That feedback came directly from the General Manager and CFO of the store — people who rarely speak about emotional tone. But this time, they felt it. And that told us the message was more than just effective — it was resonant.


The Outcome


No sales numbers were promised. No ad budgets were blown.
